Announcing an Exclusive Event for Women Entreprenuers at The ArcLight Theatre

October 31, 2016

There’s really nothing I love more than entrepreneurial women who root for each other.

I especially love it when opportunities arise for us to come together, in one physical space, to do just that.

So when I was asked to join fellow Chicago #bossbabes Katy Lynch and Theresa Carter to host a one-of-a-kind, women’s only event for entrepreneurs at Chicago’s new gorgeous ArcLight Theatre on Thursday November 10th, I agreed with a resounding YES.

In case you wondering, Katy Lynch is a Scottish-born marketer and entrepreneur. Starting her marketing career in 2008, Lynch was the Head of Social Media of Where I’ve Been, Facebook’s largest travel application. Most recently, she was the CEO of Techweek, the nation’s largest traveling technology festival. She has been included in Crain’s Tech 50, has been named a Chicago Entrepreneur to Follow on Snapchat, and has been placed on Thrillist’s Top 50 Twitter Feeds To Follow.

Theresa Carter is the founder and publisher of The Local Tourist, an online regional resource based in Chicago with satellite sites in Milwaukee and San Diego. After moving to Chicago in 2001, she quickly fell in love with her new city. Carter was one of the inaugural bloggers for ChicagoNow.com and was Answers.com’s Chicago Expert. She currently contributes to 1000TravelTips.com and she has recently launched a series of ebook guides, available on Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and several other online retailers. Carter has also created and hosted more than 60 signature Chef’s Table events and 15 AlphaBeer events.

First thing’s first: have you actually been to the ArcLight Theatre, yet? In total honesty, I had somewhat lost the inclination to go to the movies until recently. The time, the effort, the uncomfortable chairs…you feel me? Enter the ArcLight, which opened its doors this year in Lincoln Park.

Let’s talk about the space. The lobby could be mistaken for a posh apartment, complete with a sexy bar, artisanal bites and really good wine. FYI: “ArcLight Hour” takes place every Monday – Thursday from 4-7pm, including ½ priced appetizers and $5 drinks.

Each of the screening rooms are small and intimate, boasting the most comfy movie seats you’ll ever sit in. And perhaps my favorite touch of the ArcLight is at the beginning of each movie, when an actual person steps out to greet guests, politely reminds everyone to turn off their phones and introduces the film. I told you: next level.

On November 10th, Katy, Theresa and I will be the ones introducing the movie “Joy,” starring ultimate #girlboss entrepreneur Jennifer Lawrence. Post-movie, there will be a meet-and-greet along with an informal discussion of the movie’s themes and how they relate to female entrepreneurship. This event is an incredible opportunity to network with other Chicago women entrepreneurs and to collectively elevate the dialogue around how we step into our most badass careers and lives. And who doesn’t want that?
