I met my co-host, Jillian LeCompte, at a company I was consulting for. And although her and I weren’t in each other’s immediate friend-circles, we instantly connected. We had an innate openness with each other: I felt like I could tell her anything and that I did. When you meet a new female friend who you instantly connect with, who holds space for you without judgement and whom you can relate to on a lot random but personal topics, it can be magic.
A few months ago, Jillian asked me to meet her for coffee. She said she had an idea and wanted to ask me about it. I remember getting to the coffee shop and she had a somewhat nervous but excited energy to her…
“I want to do on podcast addressing real life women’s issues. I want to talk about things women are afraid to talk about.” she said. “And I want you to be my co-host.”
I almost fell off my chair.
“ARE-YOU-KIDDING-ME-OF-COURSE-I AM-IN,” I basically yelped. It was an immediate full body YES. (Don’t you love those?) As you know, my biggest passion is empowering women to be kinder to each other, and it starts with ourselves. My biggest mission is to create dialogue around the real, deep, dark things that hold us back in pushing us forward into living in (and being) the light. In all honesty, I always dreamed of doing a podcast of some sort, but never thought I had the time nor the capabilities.
I feel so grateful to have met a friend like Jillian, who has the same the passions and missions as I do, and invited me to partner with her to bring this vision to life.
I am SOOOO pumped for you to listen to Girls Gone Real, but most of all I am so excited for you to meet Jillian! Together, we make quite pair. (Or at least we think so.) Check out our very first episode: “Meet Jessica & Jillian” to learn more specifically about how we met, why we decided to do this podcast, how we both feel about Mean Girls, what our biggest quirks are and what’s in store for the future.
We have made this podcast for YOU. We hope it makes you feel more empowered to ALWAYS speak your truth.
With so much love and gratitude,
